Wife knocked her phone off the bathroom counter this morning. back is shattered and no incoming voice now. oddly enough the speaker works as you can hear voicemail. but incoming calls you get nothing.
Btw, she dropped her 3g a half dozen times over the years and not even a mark on it.
I have a S2 on UK Vodafone contract even though I am currently living in NZ. My phone is a UK model.UK Vodafone have terminated the Passport service as of 1st November which means I now go on to NZ roaming which at �1.65/NZ$3.30 a minute is somewhat steep - I also pay that amount for the incoming call.I now need to block all incoming calls on my phone so as I am not tempted to answer calls at odd times of the day or night (quite hard when we are 13 hours ahead of UK and totally out of sync with them) and pay extortionate amounts of money BUT I need to leave the phone available to make and receive text messages.It is not as easy as to just get a NZ phone contract as this was my life line with friends and family in UK until my provider pulled the passport service so need to disable the phone I have.how to do this so as I can still send/receive text but NOT receive voice calls on my S2?

I have my phone # associated with Google Voice such that when someone calls my Google Voice number ... it rings my iphone and my landling. I have configured GV (just like a lot of other GV users) to make me press 1 to take the incoming call.Â
This worked wonderfully on my iphone 4s (IOS 7.x). But there is a problem with either iPhone6 or IOS 8.XÂ ... now the problem ...Â
- When I pickup the call on the cell ... GV asks me to press 1 (like it always does). I press 1 ... No acknowledgement. I can hear the DTMF tone but it does not get registered.
- When I pickup the call on my landline ... I am able to press 1 and accept the incoming call.
- My first thought was there is a bug in IOS when the phone is in the locked screen ... but no ... even when I get the call with the phone unlocked ... it will not register any of the DTMF keys
- To test this I added my wife's iPhone 4 (not 4S) running IOS 7.1 to my GV account. I was able to answer the call by pressing 1.Â

All of a sudden I cannot hear voices on incoming calls. I hear voices on outgoing calls perfectly fine. My phone did not fall or anything like that.

Then I tried to load apps that connect to the internet and they all freeze and do nothing at all. I cleared all my music and photos thinking a memory issue but nothing same problems. If you are in the middle of sending a text message and using the voice input and talking to the voice input when a call comes in, the voice input is abandoned, the "answer/ignore" screen shows for a second. But before you can answer, the keyboard comes back up and covers it up, so you can't answer the call. And then the keyboard is stuck on the screen. "back" doesn't make it go away (so you still can't answer the call). Even if you go to the home screen, the keyboard is still on the screen. Stock phone, not rooted, all updates applied, etc.

I am using a Blue Ant Q1 Blue Tooth headset and updated to the latest firmware on it. Now when I tell the Blue Ant Voice command the command 'Phone prompt' it connects with my Blackberry Torch 9800 Nuance Voice command option with no problems.Now when I tell the Nuance voice command the numbers of a phone number I want to call, it will repeat it back to me to verifying the number. Now the numbers are clear when the voice command repeats the number I want to call.I swear it really sounds like the very first computer voice ever created, it's all garbled and muddy like. No real clarity in what it is repeating back to me.It is very hard to make out what the voice command is repeating back to me to verify the word I used to describe the number I want it to call.Now, I shut off my Blue Ant Blue Tooth headset and tried the Nuance voice commands with my phone only and I get the same poor quality computer animated voice issues coming out of my Blackberry Torch 9800.Is this normal, I sure hope not, after purchasing what I consider a top quality cell phone. I would expect more clarity with this software from Blackberry and Nuances.This is the one feature that I really need for a cell phone to perform well for me, since I am on the road a lot for my business and needs handsfree dialing.
