Does anyone know how to make it so that tethering data usage is shown seperately in the settings app like it is on phones with tethering enabled officially? It seems to be enabled in the plist, but it just won't show it. I remember I was able to see it on a my 3GS with 3.1.2 without doing anything beyond enabling tethering.

I have previously used the unlimited data plan and tethered to a LG CU500 about two years ago.I recalled setting up the dialup connection (via Bluetooth) with

Are those parameters the same now if I use the A707 sync? Or did ATT changed those parameters already?I have also noticed that the A707 Sync has a different connections setting than what I used previously on the LG CU500. There are FOUR types of connections setting in the A707 Sync. They seem to have been preset. Here are the connections settings:

What are the differences between the settings and which of the four would the appropriate connection setting for tethering to the laptop?Lastly, my main task would be somewhat routine (checking email/check ebay item/bank account/paying bill) using the data plan probably around 3 times a day for no more than 5-10 min.
Should I get the $15 or $25 data plan?
I suppose I never paid too much attention to this Data Usage app in settings and it's accuracy. My bill resets on the 9th of each month meaning i run from (BOD) 9th-8th (EOD) of each month. I have the app set to begin on the 9th of course, but it continues to display 8th-8th of each month. Is this just the way it is or am I missing something? Shouldn't the tally show date begin to date end? This configuration effectively adds one extra day to the count. It's a small inconvenience I suppose due to my unlimited plan and that I can wait an extra day to move the slider over by one day, but I'd like to keep a rough record so that I know approx data used just in case one day I have to tone it down to a shared data plan.

My husband's phone however will count on the phones data usage 20mb over night while it is charging and on our wifi. it is counting this towards his 3g usage and not wifi. We have already had APPLE reset everything at the store. it is still doing it. so he has to turn off all cellualar data usage at night or it keeps racking up the usage even though it is on our wifi. I plug my phone in at night as well and mine is not doing this

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen I got my phone all the tethering stuff was in place as normal.. I tried it out on my mac and it worked great.. Then my phone crashed, got it running good to go now.. So the other night I needed internet, go into settings, turn ON tethering.. Open macbook, wait, nothing.. go back into settings on my iPhone and there is no longer anything left even related to tethering.. GONE!
So where did it go and how can I get it back is what I am wondering? 3.1.2j, telus network Canada, originally at&t.
Also, is there a way to force a carrier update? When I got one the first time it didnt show me the cellular data network settings, after the reset of the phone thats there and I had to enter in the information all manually for MMS, internet, etc.friggin problems.. nothing ever wants to work right.
I checked out my data usage on the att website and it turns out surprisingly that i consistently use under 200mb a month.
1. I beejive im every work day for at least 2 hours on edge(don't tell my boss) but it suprisingly only comes out to only about 4mbs per day (if i used 3g would the data consumption be higher?)
2. I maybe use slingplayer 1 day a month on 3g (sad) about 10mbs i think
3. I grab email manually by opening up the mail app maybe twice a day max.
Do you think i should switch asap? or is it best recommended to view iphone 4 data usage first in case i upload 720p video (which i doubt they will let you do)
I have a 3GS running iOS 5.1 and just changed my AT&T account to 5gig with hotspot/tethering (or so I thought) for a vacation. I cannot find this option in settings anywhere. Not in top level settings, general networking, or anywhere.

One additional bit of info: 2/23 was also the date that the Microsoft Health app updated. I use a MS Band. It seems like there may have been some type of update pending on the band. When I called Verizon's tech support, they said that the pending update might have something to do with the massive data usage. We completed the update to the Band, and they said to give it another day to see if the data usage continues. What this "Restore data" app is, it doesn't sound like it has anything to do with the Band.
As as august 18th I have sent:1.5GB recieved:14.7GB average that out over 10 months that is roughly: 1.6GB
So I am way over the new data caps that o2 has introduced.

I had my original 2G iPhone for three years before updating to the iPhone 4. During that three years, I only used about 4 GB of cellular data, so I thought the whole "no more unlimited data" business was blown out of proportion.
Of course, with my old iPhone, I didn't have 3G, so I didn't stream a lot over the cellular network. I decided to try streaming music in my car for a few days on my one-hour-each-way commute to work and back.
I used it for about a week, before switching back to my iPod. I just checked my data usage, and in the three weeks or so that I've had my new iPhone, I have used 4 GB of data already!
That's right, in three weeks, I used the data that I took three years to use on my old iPhone! My data usage multiplied by 52!
That's crazy! Streaming certainly does make a huge difference.
How much data do you use? I just thought I would pose the question.
I'm trying to figure out if I really need unlimited data or if I should choose a cheaper plan. Problem is I don't know which is my true data usage. The first is from the "Settings" app and the second is from At&t's app.

However, in my settings it says I have used 23.5mb + 168mb, and in the Your Orange app it says I have used 305mb! Quite a big difference

I am currently with Vodafone in the uk and about 6 months ago I recieved a text message saying I was close to my data limit of 750mb and that they would provide me with an extra 250mb charged at £5 per shot. I downloaded a data usage app to monitor my usage and it was climbing at a ludicrous rate. As imaginable when I contacted Vodafone to inform them of the issue they didn't want to know and were not the slightest bit interested in the problem at all. I decided to return the phone to apple who after literally 5 minutes of using the phone said that there was defiantly and issue with the handset and that due to it still being under warrenty they would replace it free of charge.
Now this problem seems to have reoccurred where as I very nearly went over my limit last month I put this down to playing draw something through 3G and susiquently deleted the app. I decided to reset my data usage on the iPhone I have this morning already used 20mb + in just under an hour. It isn't as through it climbs when not being used it just seems to use loads or recieved data when I'm surfing the net.

When I am near home, in my own country, my wife can use Find iPhone on her iPad to check where I am (with my iPhone) when I go out for long extended bike rides and she will normally do this in case I have a mechanical fault which cannot be fixed. View 18 Replies View Relatedjust got my new iphone yesterday and i love it, but one thing has been bothering me. i got it downloaded 5-6 apps using the app store on the phone and than i got a ringtone. check my data usage using the at&t app and its at .12mb. go over to my friends, watch a 5 min Internet video on it and its still at .12mb. woke up today and it was 104.5mb out of my 200mb allowance. after wondering what was going on i switched it so that when im in my house it uses my wifi, but than i check my data usage again and its now at 113.8mb. is this right or is there something running on my phone that is just killing my data use?in short, does 5-6 downloaded apps, 30 min of internet use (facebook/espn), and a 5 min Internet video = 113.8mb?
