IPhone :: Not Picking Network Signal - Slow Signal Refresh
I live in a poor reception area on the Rogers network. I've noticed that when I go into the basement the phone drops a signal pretty quickly. I am okay with this and is expected. My issue is when I get back on to the main floor, the phone does not pick up a signal again for a long time. Sometimes even toggling airplane mode doesn't work. My wife's iPhone does the same thing.

Anybody else having this problem?

IPhone :: Signal Drop / Signal Search?
Ever since upgrading to 3.1 my phone keeps losing network coverage and then won't find it again. The message "Searching" is constantly displayed. I've tried soft reset, hard set and a restore and I still get this problem. Does anybody else get it? Is there a way of going back to 3.01? I can't see any way to do it I'm sick of being without a phone.

What do these Icons represent or mean, and the meaning when they change Colors from White to Blue (Status Icons). There was a GB 2.3.4 User Manual Posted on Moto's site, Unfortunately no information was included about these Items. What does it mean when all three are blue, Including the H+ icon having arrows beneath it at the same time? Is it also Possible to have the Intro Video Posted or embedded to this thread as well please.

Motorola Photon 4G :: Signal Bars Vs Signal Strength?
I was wondering if anyone knows what algorithm is used for the signal bars on the Photon 4G. I have found that there seems to be no correlation between the signal strength (in dBm / asu) in Settings -> About phone -> Status and the signal bars that are shown. Often the signal bars will shoot from 1 to 5 or 6 even with really low signal ( ~97 to > 100 dBm) that doesn't fluctuate.

IPhone :: Low GPS Signal On 4?
I have TomTom UK running on my iPhone 4 which itself is running iOS 5.1.1.I have been having problems with the TomTom App keeping its signal locked in all weather conditons and even thinking I am on tottally different roads even when it was has a signal to start with.I then get the Poor GPS signal and can pretty much drive to work in 45 mins somedays without any signal lock and navigation.I know my route but use its HD traffic service to miss delays etc.I've deleted the software from the iPhone and redownloaded it and this hasn't solved the problem at all.

IPhone :: Not In 3G Area / Low Or No Signal
Got the IPhone yesterday and I am having a problem with signal strength at my home. I'm not in a 3G area, but I had hoped that I could get some reception. I used the phone in a 3G area on my way home, and I was really impressed with the clarity and the speed of the 3G internet connection. So my problem doesn't seem be with the phone, but rather the signal at my house. On the Sony Ericsson W580i I used previously, and on Samsung on my AT&T family account, I get 3-4 bars. The IPhone only gets 1 bar and sometimes no signal at all, sitting right next to the Samsung on the same AT&T network. Signal is so weak, I can't get internet at home without using WiFi.

I tried the Apple troubleshooting - re-start, do iTunes restore, remove downloaded apps. Removed silicone case and got another bar, but the signal strength is still poor. The calls are garbled and break up. I called AT&T, and their customer service, while polite, was sadly uninformed. (She told me that I couldn't even use an iPhone in my area because it only used UMTS and no longer used GSM. Sigh.)

My questions are:
1. Is there a way to improve signal strength back to at least what I had on the Sony Ericsson W580i?
2. Is there an antenna booster that is not a ripoff/placebo? Any of you radio guys, is there an experiment I can try with some wire or something?
3. If I cannot get the iPhone's signal stronger at home, is it possible to put the iphone SIM in the W580i to make calls at home?

IPhone :: Low Cell Signal
So if I'm not mistaken there was some thing in the latest iPhone update that was supposed to address an issue where the iPhone would lose cell signal when it went into stand-by. From what I have seen since updating there is still an issue with this.

I can have full 5 bar signal level but if I set my phone down for a while and it goes into stand-by the signal level will drop to one or no bars and I will miss calls and voice mails. Needless to say this is very frustrating. My wife has told me she is tired of talking to my voicemail every time she calls me. It also can create a huge delay in when I get the voicemails, some times as much as an hour after the person calls me.I think this issue is with the iPhone and not AT&T because if I turn airplane mode on, which shuts off the cell, WIFI and Bluetooth, and then turn it back off my signal will jump back up to four or five bars. The cell signal is always there but the phone is not keeping a hold of it.

IPhone :: Is It Possible To Text With Only Wi - Fi Signal?
If there is no carrier signal, but there is a Wi-Fi signal, wouldn't it be great if you could still text?

Where I live, its very hilly, and signal tends to drop very easily when in doors but there is usually a wifi signal.

How easy would this to do? (I don't mean using Safari and finding a site that offers free texts)

IPhone :: 3GS Phone Signal
My Iphone 3GS seems to have a problem with the 3g and o2 signal. I cannot get 3g in my home on the IPhone but have no problems getting it on my Nokia N95 likewise with the o2 signal its fine on the N95 but very weak on the IPhone. We have several family members in the home with various different phones and networks and none of them have a problem with signal or 3g. It seems the issue is only with the IPhone. I have had 3g on it it elsewhere so know its capable of it. Is this a known problem with the IPhone? I am so tempted to take it back and get a refund.

IPhone :: Low Signal Strength Of IP4
Since moving to the iPhone 4 my signal strength has got worse. Mostly its at 1-3 bars. Only once have I noticed it at 4 bars. I have not had full 5 bar signal since I got it last week. I have dropped calls every single day since I have had it and I am not holding it in the "death grip". My old 3GS had no signal issues. I have walked around with my iPhone 4 and the 3GS handset and the 3GS has full signal almost all the time so this cannot be an O2 issue and has to be an issue with my iP4. I have asked other iPhone 4 users and nobody's having low signal strength, in fact most say theirs is better and they have signal in places they didn't before.

IPhone :: O2 Signal Fluctuations
Does anyone who has an iPhone 4 under an O2 contract experience a range of 1-3 bars for the signal on a consistent basis? I just got my iPhone and have been left pretty disappointed - I know having a strong/bad signal doesn't directly affect the quality of a call under 3G, but when accessing the internet via the network, a low number of bars being displayed is having a detrimental effect on the bandwidth cap, hence limiting my access to faster data speeds.

Could the last update on the signal bar display be the source of all this? I fear that this more 'accurate' determination is actually working against me. O2 is supposed to have the best coverage in my area for 3G, but even when I went to London, I seldom got a full 5 bar signal. I've spoken to a representative and they said it's very normal for fluctuations to happen, but I severely doubt this.

IPhone :: Doesn't Get Signal
I've spent the past week poring over posts on here and on different sites, trying to educate myself as best I can so i can fix this issue. After hours and hours of banging my head against the wall, I can't figure anything out. My story goes:

- 2009 iPhone 3G updated to latest firmware/bootloader/baseband (3.1.3, 5.11.07, 5.09)
-Tried to jailbreak with pwnage tool 3.15 and accidentally checked "Activate iPhone"
-When restoring the custom pwnage firmware from iTunes, got a 16xx error
-Unplugged and tried to restore to original ipsw which i had backed up before
-This process looked like it went normal, but when it was finished the iPhone restarted into emergency call mode and iTunes gave the error The SIM card insterted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported (even though it is a functional ATT SIM tested and working in other ATT phones)
-I tried doing pwnage fresh without the activate iphone checked and it went through all the steps, this time without the error, but when it reset, it was still in emergency call mode.

Since then i tried numerous things to get it back to working status including, calling ATT, Apple, getting a new SIM, various Jailbreaks (Blackra1n, Spirit, redsn0w, pwnage), unlocks. Nothing worked -------> EXCEPT: When I run redsn0w, it goes through the JB, restarts and functions 100% normally, but THERE IS NO SIGNAL. I tried installing ultrasn0w through cydia, and all that does is change the signal from no bars "_ _ _ _ _" to "Searching".

So basically what I'm left with at this point is an oversized iPod touch. An iPhone that doesn't get signal. UGH.

IPhone :: Exchanged 4 - No Signal Gone
For what it's worth, there are iPhone's without the dreaded antenna issue. I just exchanged mine at my local apple store and the new one is perfect. No matter what I do I can't get the signal to drop, even holding it tightly with two hands. The first one I had drop constantly. All I had to do was put one finger over the left side antenna and within seconds it would drop to searching.

IPhone :: Have Db Signal And Bars
Well I have found a way to easily switch your signal bars on your status bar from regular bars to db's and back whenever you want. Well I'm on the latest beta of 4.1 (8b5097d) on IPhone 4 and it does have feild test (maby it's just because I restored from my 3GS but idk). So go to your phone app and then to the keypad. Then type *3001#12345#* and press call, this will put u in field test app. At the top I can tap the bars and it will switch to db's and if tapped again it will go back. So once u tap to change to db's hold the sleep button till slide to power pops up then let go of the sleep button and hold the home button (this is a respiring). Once u do that u can just easily tap the bars or db's and switch where ever you are in your phone. Good luck hope it works on all your phones. And ps you don't need to be jailbroken!

IPhone :: Any Updates On 3G Signal?
I received as a replacement has trouble getting a 3g signal. The worst part is, I am in a strong 3g area (Silver Spring MD). I would get 5 bars easily when I had my iphone 3g 4 months ago, but with this one, I would get 3 if I am lucky, than it would revert to full bars of edge in 3 minutes or so. Is this a good reason to get a replacement? Why am I paying the extra 15 dollars a month if i cant take advantage of the 3G?

IPhone :: Low Signal Strength
I have an iPhone 2G unlocked with 3.1.2 running on T-Mobile. I just got it a few days ago. I've noticed that since I got it, it's had really bad signal, the bars are usually down to 1-3 at home (usually 3 or 2) and, while this annoyed me, it didn't bother me much cause it stilled worked. However, at school I've noticed my signal is actually down to 0 at times and in one specific class, stays at the 0-1 bar and constantly disconnects saying No Service.
