IPhone 3GS :: BMW SmartPhone Integration IOS 4.0 With Car Stereos?
A number of vehicles have recently provided iPod and iPhone specific hardware integration into their stereo systems, and after-market systems have had these features for a while. In my case, and for the purposes of this thread, I am concerned with BMW-specific hardware. Before I make the jump to the iOS 4.0 upgrade, my primary concern is with car stereo connectivity. Specifically, I have a BMW with a factory stereo that includes the 'iPod Integration' and the 'SmartPhone Integration' packages, and the console adapter for the iPhone 3G/3Gs. It allows full use of the iPod-style functions of the phone through the stereo as well as use of buttons on the steering wheel. After reading a number of posts where folks have had issues with their iPhone 3Gs phones following the iOS 4.0 upgrade (with Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, or other equipment), I am wondering whether anyone has performed the upgrade and connected to a factory BMW system.Once the new iPhone has shipped, I'll also be interested in finding out how it works with USB connections and whether a docking adapter is going to be made available, but that is secondary to the question of whether my current phone will continue to work following a software/firmware update.

LG :: Change To ENV3 Touch From Smartphone And Then Back To Smartphone?
If so, what phone did you have before and what phone do you have now? Reasons? I've had windows mobile devices for quite sometime, most recently the Omnia. Got quite fed up of them freezing/misc glitches so I decided to explore other phones and came across the ENV3 touch because I'm die hard for having a physical keyboard as well as touch. Anyhow, I've found that the Env3 touch lacks a bit as far as:
-copy and pasting
-dialing from the web
-only saving a small amount of text messages
-no "tethering" yet ;x
-can't "forward" text messages to an email address, but can send a "new" text message
-email/web attachments unable to open or save to phone
I'm sure there are a few other little things. Oh and Wireless Sync is to die for! Backup Assistant only backs up phone book, not calendar, etc.

IPhone :: Best Car-integration Without FM / Bluetooth?
Not being overly impressed by the current in-car solutions, I have been wanting a better one, primarely because I do not want to fiddle with BT-settings and/or FM tuning. I simply want to get into my car, dock my iPhone and go. Period. Ideally, there would be a car-dock-connector that would transfer mic-control to a external wired microphone somewhere near the driver, and output sound through the stereo system, but so far, the lack of such a connector seems to continue to require bluetooth solutions. My reason for wanting to avoid BT, is that it is too cumbersome to have to keep turning BT on/off all the time to save power when running the iPhone on batteries.
So far - a hack involving manually rigging a mic in the coupe and connecting it to the jack on the top seems to be the closest solution, but I cannot help thinking that integraring the iPhone in the car should ideally be as elegant as the iPhone itself.
Anyone seen a REALLY elegant and fuzz-free car-integration solution on the horizon not involving wireless technologies for the tranmission of sound?

IPhone :: App For Calendar / Contacts Integration
Blackberry/Treo and Smartphones in general ALL provide the capability of
1> Seamless integration between the calendar and contacts; i.e. I can be in the contacts and 'invite' a contact into the calendar for a meeting. It's not necessary to copy/paste the contact information from the contact information - it's a direct link between the two apps.
2> An appointment in the calendar can be copied to another date and it's not necessary to use copy/paste. It's just there as a function of the calendar.
Since I can't find either capability in the iPhone (can't call it very smart if these two functions aren't available now can we?) has anyone found an app that can do this. Or is this one more insidious method by Apple to restrict the SDK.

IPhone :: Integration For Phone With 2003 Acura TL
I have a 2003 Acura TL (with in dash 6-CD, no navi). It does not have an AUX port in the dash and I am not looking for an FM transmitter. I've looked at these companies (url...) and (url...). The first product I heard was garbage and the other doesn't support Acura or the iPhone. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction? Any suggestions, other than buy a new car would be fantastic.

IPhone :: 3G Car Integration / Replacing Bulky CD Collection
This is my first post here and I'm really excited to be apart of the MacRumors community. So, I have just purchased my iPhone 3G and I couldn't be happier with it. But alas, now that I have one of these, I'd really like to replace that bulky cd collection in my car with this device alone. I'm sure this has been inquired about before but I was wondering if some of the previous solutions stated work just the same with the iPhone 3G. I have no desire to use FM Transmitters or the audio jack out as I would like premium sound quality. I want to use the official iPhone input and after some research, the best solution I have found is buying the Alpine CDE-9881 Head Unit as it also comes with the cable that plugs into your iPhone and supposedly displays song titles and playlists right on the display. I'd like to know if anybody has had prior experience with this head unit or what they know about it (does it work the same with the 3G, does it work 99% of the time, etc). Or if there any other suggestions for car audio integration utilizing the dock input of the iPhone. Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this and I'm really anxious to hear back from you guys. -Brian

IPhone :: Text Messaging - Integration With Ford Sync
It is unfortunate that a technology leader such as the iPhone is missing a significant feature that RIM and Android have, and likely losing market share accordingly.
Through the "Message Access Profile" bluetooth profile, Ford Sync cars (1+ million sold to date) have the ability to read out your text messages via bluetooth, ensuring that the driver isn't distracted. With so many laws banning driver distractions (hand-free requirements, no text messaging initatives), this is a significant safety issue for today's iPhone owners.
I have seen many posts for years from users wishing that Apple would get on board with this technology, but so far it hasn't been raised as a viable option to implement.
Please reply to this thread if you are one of the 1+ million Ford Sync owners who also own an iPhone and wish this feature was implemented. I luckliy own both a BlackBerry and an iPhone, but not all people do.

BB Bold :: 9900 BBM Integration Not Working
BBM integration on any super app will not work on my Bold 9900. Its currently on OS 7.1 (1149) for the Philippines and BBM 6.2. This started when my device bricked and I had to reload the SW. It stops when verifying the app. Then after a few moments it would say that the server is unreachable. Which is wierd cause I've tried another device on the same specifications and it works. I even used my BB ID on the other device. Below are the steps I have taken:
1. Batt pull
2. Edited application permissons
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled the supper app
3. Uninstalled and reinstalled BBM 6.2
4. Downgraded to OS 7.0 (2395) for PH and BBM 6.1
5. Upgradeed to OS 7.1 (1149) for PH and BBM 6.2
At first I thought it had to do something with my BB ID. But i tried everything on another device and it works. I tried a different BB ID still no go. different SIM and BB ID no go. But everyting works on my other device.

Motorola :: MPT Integration With Outlook 2007
Has anyone had any success with getting Mortorola Phone tools working with Outlook 2007?I was unsuccessful getting the latest version MPT 4.3.6c to work properly with my install of Outlook 2007 from the Office System 2007 installation. I tried adding the old 'OutlSync.dll' into the "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12 ADDINS" folder, and then adding the MPT add-in through the trust center, but that didnt work either. Does anyone know of a new patch that would enable this integration functionality to work?

Xperia Pro/Neo/V/L :: Facebook Calendar Integration Trash App?
I dont know if this is only my issue or all face the same but the calender sync of Facebook integration app of Xperia phone(my is Xperia Neo V) downloads lot of unnecessary data in background.(The attached image shown is screenshot of DataUsage on a GPRS 1GB data plan for 21 days... and rest is self explainatory)Also when I switched off the Facebok integration option on the Setting>Xperia, my battery life increased by almost 1 day completely(with GPRS on all the times). In all my phone now lives 2 days with ease before recharging(NOTE: only 30 mins of games and 3 hrs of music was done). I would have love to attach the screenshot but by that time display overtook the battery discharge usage.I would like Sony Engineers to review the Xperia Facebook Integration program code to debug the issue.
PS: I am also having trouble with wifi connectivity using Netgear router. Dlink worked fine. others still not tested.

IPhone :: Official Mercedes Dock (3G/3GS) / Official IPod Integration Kit
I have a Mercedes with the above installed. I have notice that when I put the phone into the dock a message appears on the iPhone saying that this is not an approved accessory and would I like to switch on Airplane Mode.If I leave it the message goes away, all good. However does this mean that if Apple upgrade the firmware, as it says it's not approved, the dock could stop working?

BB Bold 9000 :: Integration To MS Outlook 2007 Web Access Email Account
I'm having trouble with a new Blackberry Bold that I've had for only a few months (I'm a rookie!).I was previously accessing work emails using MS Outlook 2003 web access. The work server was recently upgraded to MS Outlook 2007 - since then I have been unable to access the web access email.
The error message I receive is -Cannot connect to email server or invalid server name:Please verify the Outlook® Web Access URL. If the error persists contact <domain.com> (your email provider).
The Blackberry Tech Solution Centre states this problem relates to my work server using a Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server and that no solution is available yet (KB04804).
Does anyone know of any way I can access this web mail account? The only other way I was thinking was to open a Blackberry email address and create a forward rule to auto-forward all my work emails to the Blackberry email address. It would be preferred if I didn't have to do this.

Nokia :: New To Smartphone / E63 Unlocked
I recently purchased a used E63 unlocked & I am using it with AT&T. I reset it when I got it & all is working in terms of voice/basic text. However, as it relates to checking email via hotmail, yahoo, etc, do I have to have a data plan for this? On my previous non-smart phone, this was included as part of the messaging plan but now I'm thinking it's going to need a data plan. Any thoughts on this? Any issues using data on e63/thoughts on how much it will cost?

I rely a lot on this website for great information on phones. So once again I ask for the help of professionals.
I belive the Cingular Blackjack is a smartphone, Cingular tends to disagree. I have found some information available here http://do-somethingaboutit.blogspot.com/ and I would like to hear your opinions and your arguements as to is this device a smartphone or a PDA. Let's help Cingular open their eyes.
