Nokia :: Great App For Facebook And Twitter Addicts

May 5, 2010

Ive just updated the Socially app to the latest version, Outstanding. It offers a new tab within contacts for your social networking contacts and allows you to click on them and display their Wall posts. It will also download your contacts profile picture and add them to their details. On the X6 homescreen it even updates your favourite 20 contacts pic to the homescreen.

Its the best widget I have seen, mine automatically updates every hour and pops up a bubble on my screen and scrolls thru the last 15 updates on my FB account.

Nokia :: N86 - Great Phone But AWFUL Sound Quality

Mar 1, 2010

As a happy N95 8GB (heavy) user I had high hopes for my N86 upgrade (after extensive research and satisfied it would fulfill my all-one-needs, I was rubbing my hands in gleefull expectation). Save for the numerous allusions to poor sound quality, I had high hopes.

Sadly, how wrong I could be.O2 delivered my N86 last week, and I was instantly disappointed - in fact, quite taken aback - by the genuinely AWFUL, tinny, quality of the calls and even worse, the loudspeakers (plus the underpowered processor). I promptly sent the phone back, assuming I'd been sent of a 'dodgy' handset, and today, took delivery of a brand new handset: to my surprise, it has exactly the same problem.

I've only ever used Nokia phones, I very rarely post to forums, but feel compelled to do so as I find it surprising that, with such great technology to hand, Nokia could release a handset with speakers and a sound chip of such poor, tinny, quality. Clearly pocketability and reducing the phone's size-profile has been prioritised over speaker size and overall sound quality.

A further scour around these discussion groups and forums elsewhere confirms I'm not alone: other n86 users are becoming progressively clued up to the fact that whilst it's a good, if not spectacular, phone - pleasing wide-angle camera, feels good in the hand (if a little top heavy, and not as easy to text as the N95), robust, generally quite satisfactory - and, of course, for those few of us left that like traditional buttons - it generally ticks all the boxes.

But I couldn't bear to use this phone day in, day out, which such risible sound quality.Surely such issues would be addressed in iminent firmware upgrades? Speaking to someone who works at Nokia directly, and looking at the bugs the latest firmware DOES fix, it doesn't appear sound is on the menu (although I could be wrong). Of course, I'm sure will be addressed in time - Nokia must be aware of the general feedback related to the sound issue (!?) - but I would rather not wait.

Additionally, the phone is underpowered. I could probably live with a little slugishness, as I expect that will definately be fixed in time. But I can't live with talking to someone like they're under a duvet (admittedly, not that I have much experience of talking to someone under a duvet) or straining to hear a word said when I'm using the phone outside, with the loudspeaker is turned up to max.

Maybe I've been spoilt with great quality sound on the N95 (which fits into my pocket just perfectly, Nokia!), but I would - personally, in my view, in my humble opinion and all that - struggle to believe the N86 was thoroughly roadtested with call quality as a priority?Maybe other's will disagree - the above is just my experience. Back to my N95.

Galaxy S6 :: Wireless Charging Works Great - Unless Battery Is Below 50-60% To Start?

Dec 9, 2015

I have a Tylt Vu at home and at work, and they charge my phone relatively quickly from ~70% to 100% without issue daily in the case.

The other day I put my phone on the home one at ~40% and picked it up hours later and it hadn't charged at all (probably lost a few %, I forget). I thought it was a fluke but yesterday I had the same thing at work when the battery was between 50-60%.

I've seen the issue at home at the tylt vu charger stayed constant green like it was charging. Yesterday at work, it was blinking in loops in red and putting it in day dream (while plugged in) seemed to correct the issue. Daydream stops notifications from showing up though and isn't what I want. I like the ACDisplay app blinking notifications at me MotoX style, especially at work.

So far when having the issue I've tried
- rebooting the phone
- rebooting the wireless charger
- the vu charger has a proprietary cable, so I can't use the Samsung one on it
- took phone out of case to ensure it wasn't a case issue
- installed latest update from VZ (wifi calling one), just to say I have latest updates

There is a this similar Note 5 thread without much resolution, but the forum won't let me post a link to it b/c my post count is too low forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-5/580972-wireless-charging-works-above-50-a.html

trying a variety of wireless chargers? Is there a daydream app that I can choose which notifications it will show me? I looked at dashclock and briefly at the appstore yesterday but didn't find something that fit the bill. I need to see Hangouts, Touchdown, etc.

Moto X (2014) :: Google Hangouts Call Quality Low On WiFi / Great On 4g?

Dec 24, 2014

So whenever I use hangouts to place a call (to a conference line for example) 3g/4g work fantastically, better than a cellular call. However if I am on wifi the hangouts call audio is constantly speeding up and slowing down, and people complain they cant hear me.
