I am using Lyricidal's .862 Hybrid for my Storm2 and LOVE IT. I recently paid for and downloaded Hypoxia media player and the application freezes at the splash screen. I emailed the company and the Lead Developer got back to me and said: "the hybrid version of an OS means that the required library files have been added or removed which is not how the OS was meant to be run. In your specific case the version of the OS you have has the Database Access Libraries Removed. So not only will Hypoxia not work, any application that tries to create a database will not work. You have limited options and should install a RIM approved OS or try to get a hold of the Database Libraries and but them in your OS. Its impossible to support all the different Hybrid OS's when the people are taking out and putting in whatever they want".Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this to work without changing OS's?
Now I've never had this problem on my Curve, but i recently bought a Storm 2 and the phone does not detect the 16Mb memory card. I have tested several other memory cards and still nothing. I have used my Curve to format the card and it worked fine for the Curve but still didn't work in the storm. Any suggestions or fixes for this problem?
Tried the 9550 in the store the other day and was more impressed with the new sure-press than I thought I'd be. Being an 8330 user currently, the virtual keyboard felt awkward, but I realize that after several days of use, I'd quickly get accustom to it and probably grow to like it.
Anyways, I have a major question for Storm2 people. How are the video playback capabilities? I'm talking about moving video from PC onto phone to watch (i.e. TV episodes). I have tons if TV episodes in .avi form, and cannot for the life of me get my 8330 to play them. I've tried BB video converter, etc. Searched the forums, ended up concluding that the 8330 simply cannot do it. So, can the 9550 play .avi's? If so, what resolution must they be reduced to in order to view them? How is viewing quality on the Storm2's screen? I love the messaging capability of the BB, but the Droid looks like it is clearly going to win in the media aspect of things, so this video playback could be a deciding factor in deciding which one to buy.
I am at work but i found this walk through vid. I can't look at other people's vids because of firm policies so i apologize if this has been posted.

Blackberry Storm2 walk-through Video: Hands on demo of the original Blackberry Storm successor By Rob Kerr
Thursday, 15 October 2009, 17:28 RESEARCH IN MOTION takes the INQUIRER through some of the new features of the Blackberry Storm2 mobile phone, the successor to the original touch screen handset from 2008.
Storm2 was unveiled today and arrives with an updated operating system, a sleeker design, improvements to its SurePress touch screen technology and the addition of WiFi to the series.
On the previous OS, I am able to play XVID video files without doing any conversions on my Storm 2. After the update, I am only able to listen to the audio and no video is being played. Anybody have any suggestions on how to resolve this? Other than this issue, the OS has been working great so far, but I can't stand not being able to watch my videos during my commute to work.Worst case scenario, I am contemplating rolling back the OS.
I recently upgraded to the Storm 2 from the original Storm. One of the first things I noticed was how my weather radars on the Storm 2 wouldn't loop like the same ones on the original Storm. When I asked about this at the Verizon store, the CR mentioned something regarding a flash player or somethng like that.
I just picked up a Storm 9550, unless I'm missing something on previous Blackberries, when you went to Media and pressed the option key (or whatever they call it) you would have a menu entry called Explore, that option is not there just Move, Move to Folder and Full Menu? Is there something I'm missing?
Is there a way to keep the display from going to sleep when plugged into a power source? When listening to the Blackberry in the car it would be nice to have the display stay on, but I can't find the setting.
I am getting a somewhat new car at least new to Me. My company is tossing Me a 2005/6 (not sure which one) Trail Blazer.. and I dont think it has and AUX port for My Storm.. so is there any way to play My music in the car without one?
It seems my device doesn't detect the media card after a soft or hard reset. I have to manually remove the card and reinsert. It's recognized if I do this multiple times, just not after a reboot.
Same issue occurs after I tried formatting and even using a different memory card. I'm sure I'll have to wipe and reinstall the OS, but trying to avoid the hassle unless should I dare say a "leak" or a new official is released.
Tried sending several video mms messages to my Iphone and work bb curve from my S2. They seem like they are sending fine, But I get a message on the receiving devices saying the video was not attached due to format or size. I'm shooting very short clips in mms mode. Does anyone else have this issue?
1. My work pc (Win XP) sees the BB and the media card. I have been able to move photos etc to it at work. This pc only has 1 hard drive. 2. My step-son's PC (Win XP) is the same as above. It sees it and can access it. This pc only has 1 hard drive. 3. My home PC (Win 7) cannot see the media card either with windows explorer or the BB software. This pc has 1 sata drive, broken into C: and D:, 2 IDE drives E: and F:, DVD-rom is G. 5. My home PC can see the media card in disk management console, plus in the device manager 6. People at work (Win 7) have no problems seeing their cards. 7. When I plug in the BB, it grabs drive letter H:, but no media card 8. Mass storage mode, media card support and auto enable mass storage mode when connected are on 9. All of my hard drives on the home pc are formatted as NTFS, and the BB is FAT
When i listen to my music from the media player/music player and it goes to the next song, the audio BLASTS. Is there any way to change this, it definitely appears to be a bug, but I thought there may have been a setting for volume and when the song changes, making it go back to a certain volume. battery pull didnt help,
well out of the blue my storm has quit streaming video altogether. i get the error occurred while attempting to play media message. whether its the mobile Internet site, or any site that will stream videos. they just wont work. i have java enabled, i have it set as blackberry browser. i've rebooted my phone several times to no avail. quadruple checked every setting i know and nothing has changed from when it worked till now. i have a 9550 running seans 451 hybrid. Internet did work when i installed this hybrid also. the newest app that i've installed is pattern lock. but Internet videos worked right after i installed that back a week ago. i would really appreciate it if someone could provide insight as to what's wrong. i'd rather not re install my os unless neccescary.
Tried searching without much success, so figured I'd ask. Can the Storm2 stream video from websites?
More specifically if someone wouldn't mind trying... can you go to nbc.com and try to watch a full episode video there? I am hoping to pull the trigger on a Storm2 in the next few days, and I'm just trying to hammer out a few more details. Before anyone says it, YES, I KNOW THE DROID CAN DO IT!!! That's not what I'm asking.
As a firefighter, when I'm stuck at the station with a bunch of guys that want to watch hunting shows all night, or whatever, it would be really nice to think I could put on some headphones and browse away at some back episodes of my favorite shows.
Alright, so I posted something similar before, but now it's an evolved issue. When my contacts call me, the specified ringtone works. When the same contacts SMS me, it only plays the default tone I've chosen, not their specified tone. I've turned off encryption for contacts.
Well more importantly is that I have lost about 30+ pics on my phone when I was doing some file mgmt.,(getting rid of excess folders), on my laptop. I'm wondering how do I retrieve these pictures and why/how did they get deleted when they weren't on the computer in the first place? I understand losing the properties but how did the pictures get erased? On the note, I have a message on my phone that says:How do I decrypt these files? They wer originally taken on the phone.
Ok so i just recently took apart my storm 2 due to cracked digitizer...in the process i broke my media card in half...oops. Ok so i tried to superglue it back together and a message popped up on the scree "media card cannot be accessed due to fatal errors"...so i put it another media card in my storm 2 and i got the same message.
Just picked up a new Storm 9550 and so far I have been enjoying it, up to this point where I've been transferring files from my old phone to this one. I tried deleting a bunch of older videos that were made on the previous phone and even after they are gone, they are still showing up in my media list. If I click the video, it plays a completely different video instead. If I try delete the video from the list, the name doesn't even disappear. If I connect the device to the USB port on my laptop, I can see for sure that those other videos' dont exist, yet the device doesn't reflect that.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? Perhaps a "Clear Cache" option or something to that affect?
I got a new or rather refurbed phone when my 6 week old 9550 lost its ear/headset speaker. i have the lastest desktop software for os x and the lastest os on the 9550. I am also running the latest 10.5 updates for my powerbook. i got everything straighted out accept for the music sync. i had about 10-11 gigs of music on it. syncing just fine. since the new phone no matter what i do it ties to sync my entire library everytime i try to sync it.i have an itunes playlist just for it, i have renamed that. i always set it to sync just to that. i even knocked the playlist down to about 1.7 gigs. so no no matter if i delete all music, select and un select the playlist i want and only that, turn music syncing on, try, clear, wipe turn off sync, on try again nothing.point is no matter what i do. i set it to sync to one playlist and it ends up trying to do my entire library everytime.it has been this way since the new phone. please someone help. everything else seems to work just fine with the syncs. contacts are a little dumb but it sends one way from the comp. that im fine with and was a problem on first pohone.
Does anybody know if there is a way to view the screen, especially video, on an external screen? I have AV inputs (red, white, yellow RCA) in my car that are an auxillary input to the built-in DVD entertainment system. I would really like to be able to play videos through the system so all three of my kids can watch at once, and it would be easier to see on the larger screen.I would be open to any suggestions!
I have a Windows Vista laptop. My Storm 9530 OS is v22.214.171.1249, when I try to view videos recorded on my Storm 9530, on my Vista computer, I get an message Windows Media cannot play this video (3GP). Is there way to see these videos on Windows Media Player?
I use Ripbot264 for video conversions but I have no idea how to use it to convert video files for the Storm2. I have Windows7 OS and other programs suggested in this forum like Super do not work in Windows7. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. BTW... I searched all over for an answer.
I don't understand how some users Tour holster can put the 9550 to sleep.I found an old 8830 holster lying around and decided to test it out with my 9550. Video pretty much explains it all. I found that the Tour holster's magnet is just too high above the sensor. The Tour holster is the one with the bigger flap.
