BB Storm 9530/9500 :: Unlock It With Mfi Multiloader?
Dec 30, 2008
I tried to unlock it with mfi multiloader. It did not work and now my phone is stuck in CAL MODE. My screen looks like this and I can not do anything about it.
device in cal mode
device type: pop-17075-006-1b
os version: 220.127.116.11
type 'mute' then 'esc' then 'menu' to start java
radio is off. type 'r','o','n' to turn radio on.
sim; out or bad
But I can not type anything, since the keyboard does not show up. Any ideas?
I bought a Blackberry Storm 9530 off of a friend for $50 because his screen was demolished. I bought a new screen and fixed everything. I ran a Master Reset and basically I now have a clean fully working Blackberry Storm 9530 that's locked to Verizon.
So far I've been surfing your forums here and have come to two conclusions. The MFI Multiloader I was originally brought to believe would help me unlock my Blackberry apparently won't recognize the device. There's a bunch of shady dealers with a gigantic range of prices to unlock my Blackberry using my IMEI number.
I'd like to find out a couple things. First is there an alternative or a mod that can be done to the MFI Multiloader to make it compatible with my Blackberry? Secondly, if that is 100% not possible who should I go with to unlock my phone? I want it done as cheap as possible and done by a reliable and reputable source. Any fingers in the right direction would be amazing.
I'd like to do it myself as I've done everything myself when it comes to phone / console / handheld / etc...modding / hacking. If some unknown can use my IMEI number to unlock my Blackberry than why could I not learn to do the same?
Whenever i lock the screen and then try to unlock it, the screen says screen is locked press the lock button to unlock. and it shows a picture of a lock next to it. but when i press the lock nothing happens and i end up having to take me battery out just to get back into my phone.
I bought a Verizon Blackberry storm 9530, but without the sim card. I was wondering if anyone can help me unlock this phone so i can used it with my t-mobile. I own a t-mobile phone that has a sim card.
Well spring break is here for the most part and I'm heading to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I want to be able to fully use my phone without any outrageous out of country charges. So I'm thinking I need an unlock code right? How do I go about getting an unlock code and when I do get this unlock code will my charges still be completely normal even tho I'm in another country? Again I don't want any crazy charges for texting and such.
I have a Storm 9530 on Verizon. Love it, works great. I have an old voice plan that I love, b/c it's cheap and gives decent # of minutes. You guys know Verizon is pretty expensive, so I wouldn't touch any of these new voice plans with a 10ft pole.
In the rare months where I have a lot of calls to make, I want to be able to buy a Prepaid Phone, pop its sim card into my BB, and make calls with it, without touching my Verizon minutes. (i.e. Use Boost mobile or tmobile prepaid, or whatever really). I don't care about unlocking the data plan to work, since that's unlimited on Verizon anyways.
My Questions: Is this possible? How do I accomplish this? If so, do I need to unlock the phone before doing this? Will it mess anything up switching sim cards in/out every so often?
I am looking to buy a unlocked storm and i was wondering which model would allow me to go on 3G with AT&T the 9500 or the 9530? also would i be able to use GPS on an unlocked Storm? cause i heard verizon disables the GPS even if its unlocked
Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem as i'm having. maybe once a day or once every two days my storm seems to lag. if i lock the phone and then go back to unlock it, the small timer in the middle of the screen pops up for 10's of seconds. i know the timer will come up frequently but not for this amount of time. its getting annoying because it will continue to do it until i completely reset the phone by pulling out the battery. then it goes back to being my wonderful storm that i cant get my hands off of.
I read so many posts about poor battery life that I have to post this info.Previous to my storm I owned a couple of Palm Treos and both had very poor battery life (a few hours) before conditioning. After following this procedure battery life increased to 3-4 days moderate use on the treos and yes, on the Storm too!
1) Discharge the battery fully.
2) Recharge the battery.
3) Disconnect the charger, wait 30 seconds and reconnect it. Leave the charger connected 6 hours or more (overnight is good).
4) Keep charging overnight every night for 2 weeks whether your Storm needs it or not.
5) You'll see a vast improvement in battery life.
I've just put my Storm on charge after nearly a week of 15 emails and 4 voice calls per day. Not to mention 2 1.5 hour videos and loads and loads of music.
After having gone through the crazy journey of dealing with an unlocked BB Storm that I purchased via Ebay (AND I USE THE TMOBILE MONTHLY FLEX PAY PLAN - GOOD STUFF!), I just have to share... 1st, When you receive an unlocked phone, it is a must that you go to the Master Reset option in order to purge away all of the old "stuff" of the previous owner. 2) After youve completed the reset, on your phone option, press ##000000 and delete the old number and input the number of your new SIM Card (Oh yeah, you'll need one to make this baby work, but work it does.) 3) No matter what so-called gurus are saying on these internet geek blogs, you will HAVE to purchase a Data plan (24.99) in order to get your new BB email addy, internet access, etc... to work PROPERLY - all service books will come when your provider pushes them to you - dont accept the generic ones floating on the internet; they're not reliable. Now while we're on this topic, because Verizon owns the BB Storm, for now, your service provider will have to list you as owning the BB Curve 8900. Trust me, it'll still get you EVERYTHING you need to be full on legit. 4) Register on your carriers site to get the benefits of downloads, etc. ....and lastly, to get the "1" key to operate as your Voicemail hot key by going to the phone key, open your bb menu, selection options, select voicemail and delete the old number and input your new one. At this point, your phone will belong to you totally.
My friend recently unlocked a storm he purchased from another friend. I helped him install some themes and apps. phone makes and recieves calls but there is no browser showing up using his sim card from a G1 T-Mobile phone. I tried it using my daughters sim card from her sidekick phone and the browser does show up using her sim card. any ideas on how or why its not working with the G1 sim card installed.
I had a question about the 9500. Im currently using the 9530 from verizon and was thinking about selling it and getting a 9500 cuz i have t-mobile and im tired of the EDGE/edge problem.....I was just curious if any of you happen to know if the 9500 has the EDGE/edge problem that the 9530 has with T-Mobile.
I wish there was an easy way for me to portray the amount of disdain I have for my Storm at this time, however, that won't do me any good!I'm just looking to get some insight to my problem and whether or not it can be resolved! It would be really unfortunate if I had to replace my lump of a phone as I am a college student that just moved away from home and am in the middle of my two-year contract. My phone is still in operating order minus the faulty touchscreen, it still receives messages, emails, and even phone calls. All the side buttons work, in short, the screen is just dead.I did not drop it nor spill any liquids on it and I've performed a plethora of battery pulls. I'm at a loss!Let me describe the events that occurred before (seemingly) death of my touchscreen. I was at a friends house preparing for a 9/11 5k race when I noticed my battery was running low so I left it in a safe place to quietly run out of steam because I had no need to carry a phone during a race. At this point it was still fully functional. After the race, I check my phone to see if it was out of power yet which it was. I get home later that night and charge it only to rudely surprised by an inoperable screen. I cleaned the screen and did a few battery pulls afterwards in hopes it was only a minor problem to no avail.
A little hardware information that may be of use:
I was also in a moderate car crash the day prior so perhaps that may have caused some problems? Externally, my phone is in mint condition. I suppose this just hasn't been my week!
I recently bought an unlocked Storm 9550 and using it on GSM network in India.I have configured my Blackberry Enterprise Server emails on the phone and as per my organisational policies the phone is password protected and auto locks every 30 minutes. While the phone is in unlock mode, all incoming calls displays the name from my phone book. However, when I receive calls in the lock mode, no name is displayed and only the no appears. Seems that the incoming calls are unable to look up the number in my phone book, when the phone is in locked mode. Also, I do not see options related to call waiting, call forward, call barring and FDN Phone list in my Phone Options menu.
I decided to upgrade to firmware v.90 (9500) & i kept getting this F***D up error: "unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage operation". However, i was able to downgrade back to the really S***T v.78 no problem & after i did that i wiped every thing with JL Loader then tried to reinstall v.90 & the same thing happened again.
After 4 more attempts and lots of wasted time, i uninstalled v.90 from my PC restarted the PC did another bloody wipe of my phone & went online and downloaded V.87 (this is what i had installed previously before the v.90 update) to see if it would update to that version & WTF it worked. I don't get it I really want V.90. What should i do? Please help? Maybe restarting the pc fixed things?
How is it going? I'm new to the forums. I already own a Nokia 5800 which i really don't like too much. I want a touchscreen phone and played around with a Storm yesterday. Seems much easier due to the big screen. I love the BB messenger, as all my friends have it, too. The only thing i would really require is a VOIP client that uses 3G which doesn't exist for the 5800.
My question is where would be the best place to buy one lets say locked, so it is cheaper and then unlock it myself. Or is an unlocked one from ebay my best bet?
Moreover, i'm in the UAE. Can i buy either a 9500 or 9530, as i read the only difference is the CDMA if that is correct or do the other bands vary as well, and it will work on 3G and gsm in the UAE? the 9500 modell seems to me more expensive.Yes i did try the FAQ and searched and couldn't find a 100% answer.
I'm about to get rid of my 4gig iphone (yea i had it from release lol) to get a storm. I jus wanted some clarification as to what is the difference between these two devices? Is it just that the 9500 is GSM while the 9530 is CDMA? Or does the 9530 do GSM & CDMA? Are there any other differences between the two devices? I live in Barbados and we operate on GSM so I just wanted to clarify before i place my order.
I'm looking to pick up either a 9530 or a 9500 and unlock it to use on my AT&T plan. I read on here that the main difference is the 9500 uses primarily a GSM network with CDMA capabilities, while the 9530 is vice versa. I'm just curious if there are any differences in reception or sound quality between the two on a GSM network.
I got a Blackberry Storm 9530 with Telus Mobility Canada and I am not able to unlock it. The provider said that it is a technology for Internation Roaming Card but can also accept SIM card. The problem is that on the net it says that it is SIM card technology and I saw some people unlock there Blackberry Storm. I have got a Internation Roaming Card in my blackberry storm. Can someone explain me why I have a BB Storm that can ONLY accept SIM card without using SIM card technology while everyone else in North America can unlock their phones?
I have only the apps that came on the phone and maybe 3 or 4 more and my memory is down to 5MB. The screen keeps popping up that says your memory is running low and it gives me a list of apps to choose from that I can delete to make more room for memory. I think I am closing the apps when finished. Is there anything I can do to help my memory. Not sure where all my memory is going.
I have a big question, maybe some can help me.I have T-mobile as my CellPhone Provider and I want to by a BlackBerry Storm, what version is better for GSM user like me. 9500 or 9530 ? I hope some one can help me I want to be able to have FULL EDGE AT ALL TIMES so,
Looking at the prices for these on Ebay and other sites, it seems that there is roughly a $200 difference between the models. Is there any reason why? Is the 9500 a better unit than the 9530, or are people just paying over the odds for no reason?
I do apologized if this as already been discussed however I tried searching for the information which yielded no relevant results. My question is, are there any major differences (is any at all) between the 9500 & 9530 models and if so what are they?
