I was hoping to find out from Blackberry if there will be any promotions/free upgrades for those of us who already bought the Blackberry Storm 9530 to upgrade to the 9550?
I purchased my Blackberry Storm last winter when it first came out and was very happy with the purchase. My only concern at the time was that the Storm didn't have WiFi. I was contemplating other devices with WiFi, but decided on the Storm because of the reputation of Blackberry. Also, a lot of people I know have a Blackberry and it has made communicating with them using the Blackberry Instant Messenger and PINing a lot faster.
However, now I find out that the Storm 9550 is coming out with WiFi and that irks me quite a bit. Had I known a newer model with WiFi would be out less than a year after the first model came out, I would have waited and bought the newer one.
I just don't feel that it is fair for those of us who spent a few hundred dollars on a Storm a year ago, to then have to dish out more money for an upgrade that I assume was already in the works when the 9530 came out.
I flew from CT to Cali got off the plane and my storm still says EST. When i go to the date it shows me the network time is PST and it wont update. If i set the date manually for some reason it sets the date to July 2 and wont let me change that either.
I'm having a problem with my Storm 2 right now - it will not connect to the wireless router at home properly. Router is a Belkin Wireless G model. The "Manage Conections" page shows the device as connected (green text but - no green tick) and the status page shows it has an IP address assigned to it. This is confirmed from the routers DHCP client listing. However the WiFi icon remains grey and I cannot get the phone to authenticate in order to confiure the non-enterprise e-mail account(s). Attempts to ping addresses inside or outside of the local network fail with timeout errors. Can any one suggest a solution to this is iiue please - even if it's replace the router!Wi-Fi Diagnostics (Advanced): Dec 24, 2009 20:04:43 PM Wi-Fi Current Profile: belkin54g SSID: belkin54g AP MAC Address: 00:11:50:FF:15:20 Security Type: Pre-Shared Key (PSK) Association: Successful Authentication: Successful Local IP Address: 192.168.2.11 Signal Level: -44 dBm Connection Data Rate: 54 Mbps Status: Network acquired Authentication Failure Reason: Network Type: 802.11b/g Network Channel: 1 Pairwise Cipher: TKIP Group Cipher: TKIP Gateway Address: 192.168.2.1 DHCP: Successful Primary DNS: 192.168.2.1 Secondary DNS: 188.8.131.52 DNS suffix: Belkin Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Server Domain Suffix: Certificate: Not Applicable Software Token: Not Applicable Hotspot Code: Hotspot Message: Not Applicable Hotspot Status: Not Applicable VPN Current Profile: Concentrator Address: Contact: N/A Authentication: N/A Secure Device IP: Status: VPN profile is not found. I juz received a blackberry storm 9500 from my sister, and I don't know how to connect it to wifi (I'm very new at this). I've tried google and found different answers, ranging from "storm 9500 cannot connect to wifi", to "i have one and it can connect just fine". I can't find the wifi option in the "manage connection", and there is no browser icon on the home screen either.
I've just received an used Blackberry Storm 9500. I know it has not built-in wifi, but I was just wondering (and I read some things about it) if with an Sd+Wifi Card could wifi work. If it can, how? Which card should I buy (that you know it works), how can I configure it/which app should I install afterwards?
I need some help....I have noticed several screen shots of Storm's that have a wifi indicator on the screen. My Verizon 9530 doesn't and I was under the understanding that it wasn't wifi capable. Is this true? Is this a feature in the bb that isn't turned on? Can it be accessed?
So my cousin is pumped up about the LG Arena possibly coming to the US. I'm not one of these guys who bash other phones, I really couldn't care less what phone I have. I had some cash and my upgrade came at the right time. I enjoy my storm I think I got a pretty good one. No major problems. Ok. So my cousin starts saying how this phone is verizon's iphone and the storm was a bust really I could care less but it is my cousin and we have a healthy rivalry. After all the back and forth s' talking his "strong" point was the wifi and how wifi is better than 3g. I'm not a big tech guy and don't claim to be but I always thought you have to be in wifi hotspot to use wifi. Can anyone educate me on the differences between the two? Also anyone have some info on the lg arena? What do you think? Don't just blast the phone because were on crackberry some facts would be better some positive and negative. Don't worry I won't be switching I never pay full price for a phone no matter what phone. Thanks. Blaze.
My dear boss has bought a Storm 2 and is having problems connecting to a wifi hotspot. The blackberry is standalone and have checked updates wifi locations / signals etc. The wifi network he tries to connect to is the captive login type, i.e. open browser window to type in password. After connecting to the wifi and clicking complete you should see : However, we only see prioritize wi-fi profiles. Can anyone help ? Have i missed something?
2 days back I purchased storm 2 9520.When ever I try to connect my device to internet with wifi it is showing unable to get IP address.I am unable to understand what to do with my device. Please help as I am new bee to blackberry family. And more over this is my first expensive devise.
What do i need to do to still be able to use media and apps not web-related? i'm afraid that if i do nothing it'll eat away @ battery lookin' for a network, and/or i'll be violating FSA Regulations with wifi on.
Storm 9550 (2) 5.0 version of OS 14.5gig free on card Unlocked, purchased from NewEgg Formally a Verizon Phone I am stationed in Afghanistan and purchased this unlocked version. I am using a Local carrier (Roshan). Everything works great once I sorted a couple of minor issues except I cannot get the wifi to come up. I can connect to wireless routers and says "connected". But the wifi is still grayed out and I am unable to use it (wifi) for anything or register the phone. I would like to be in a situation where the wifi will work independent of the sim card installed.
I have a storm2 (9550) that I bought from a friend. My friend's service carrier was Verizon Wireless (USA) and my Carrier is ATT (USA). I have unlocked the phone and works perfectly. I do not have a DATA Plan and do not want to use internet through ATT. The first couple of days I had the phone I was able to connect to the internet through my home's WiFi. But on the third day when I finally unlocked the phone and used my ATT SIM card, I could not connect anymore. Everything else works fine. My home WiFi profile gets recognized on my BB but does not connect to internet. (Failed to obtain an IP address). Could it be that ATT is blocking my WiFi connection? Or is the problem still within my BB and router?
i have a little question - as said in all sorts of merch - the nokia 5530 xpressmusic should have a myspace and facebook applications preinstalled. After starting up my phone it didint have facebook and myspace.I dont really need myspace, but i was looking forward to the facebook app, but all I have is a facebook icon on the standby screen which is actually only a bookmark to the mobile web version.I tried to look up the app on ovi store, but it told me that the application is not available for my nokia 5530 - WHY?I would really like to have that app, not just a stupid bookmark.

Bought a samsung d900 from myworldphone a few weeks ago. I recieved it via UPS, and opened the brown box. THe phone box itself was open, but i didnt really pay any attention to it. i opened the box, charged the phone, but it didnt power up. i left it charging for 3-4 hours, then i came back and tried to power it on again. no luck. I pulled out the battery, reinserted my sim, and it still didnt power on. i had my friend with a d900 come over, and he tried my batt in his phone, worked great. Now, since i can put a battery in it, i know MWP didnt send me a dummy. They sold me a bad phone, and i tried talking to them and doing an RMA, but no such luck. they keep blaming me, so we exchanged choice words, and i hung up i spoke to a cell phone friend who is good with modding, he said it could be a bad flash. anyone else run into this problem of the d900 not turning on and powering up?
Okay, so this is my SECOND enV2 phone i've received. My first one's OK button didnt work at all. Now, onto this one. I got it in April, and it worked fine until late May. The OK button still doesnt respond and when someone calls and I press SEND, it wont answer the call, i have to open up my phone and shut it again. Im going to my closest verizon store soon, but is there ANY way that i could get a NEW NON ENV2 phone for discount? I mean, this faulty hardware is annoying the crap out of me.

i just got my curve a day ago i have at&t and i didnt get data but i wanted to know if there is any way to crack it so i can have the internet without paying for it also i wanted to know if there was anything else i can do with my curve without having the internet besides text and calls and the calender
I downloaded the new Verizon software (v 4.5) for my curve. I was under the impression that Documents to Go was a part of the new software. It did not download to my phone. Please advise what I need to do.
I just bought my Sony Ericsson Elm (J10i) phone last 2 weeks. I got a problem with this phone. When i put it in my pocket, and after a while i take it out and i found that my phone is switched off. When i tried to switch it on again, it didn't work. I have to connect it to the charger then it can switch on again. And after it can be switched on, i have to reset all my time and date again. This happened almost like every single time i put it in my pocket. Did i press the reset button or i don't know. Please help me. It's really annoying. One thing im confused is that why do i have to connect to the charger to turned it on after it turned off by itself. If i turn the phone off manually, i can turn it back on but not when i put the phone in my pocket.
When i switch on the phone, the screen didnt come out. there's only the light on the keypad n it didnt turn off forEVER until i take out the battery from the phone. i also try put the battery back into the phone n charge it without turning it on, the same thing occur.whats the problem actually? it didnt fall. i just left it on my table. so, what can i do? im tired of getting it repaired.
ive had the s2 now for a day and a half and when i transfered my sim card into my phone it didnt contain any numbers so im prepared to manually enter them all. however with adding my email accounts and facebook alot of my contacts have appeared but i dont want them all. ive got it to only show contacts added to my phone so i have three entries in yhe phonebook but texts and calls are picking up the names from my syncd contactsif i remove the accounts from contacts settings accounts , does this delete all the details from yhese accounts so will my email contacts be syncd and removed from my address books on my email account
