BB Bold 9000 :: Email Account Alternative To Gmail Tip-GMX
I really like a lot about gmail but when I was looking for a new email account to put on my Bold, I wasn't too excited about having an address with numbers at the end, being that there aren't many gmail accounts left where you can use just your name. Most of the Euros on the board likely already know about this but, there is a German free email provider called GMX that is now venturing into North America. GMX - Free E-Mail - Webmail & POP3, IMAP..Its still in beta but not a bad set up, at all, especially to use as a BlackBerry only account. You get 5 gigs of storage, 1 gig of file storage. The SPAM filtering is probably only 2nd to Gmail's. You can create 10 email addresses with them that all send to the same main email address, and you can set it up to read all your other email addresses (yahoo, gmail, etc.) through a separate folder in the pc interface.

When you set up your gmx email address in the BIS, it automatically configures in in IMAP. My emails are pushing to my device in about 10 seconds or less. What's really great is that all emails sent from your BB get saved in the pc version's "Sent" folder, without setting up any filters. Totally automatic.
Best of all, IMO, is that I was able to get the first letter of my first name and my full last name as the address, with both the gmx.com and gmx.us suffix, no extra letters or numbers. Compared to Yahoo! or aol.com, I find the gmx suffix a bit more business-like. There is no calendar or contact sync with BB, so I'm still using Google sync for that, but all in all not a bad choice. I have no affiliation with them. Just passing along a tip.

BB Bold 9000 :: Alert Without Having New Message
Sounds silly but my blackberry is showing that i have an unread message but no where to be found. I have tried battery pulling, changing themes, deleting all messages email, sms, and mms, as well as "delete all prior"

BB Bold 9000 :: New Alert Sounds With 266?
Was just curious if this is new or I am slow... I was on 237 and upgraded the OS to 266 last week and I was looking and the alerts and scrolled to the top to find some new ones...They were listed as Tune_.... Like happy bday was there, joyful joyful..? Were these there before? I have never seen them until now.. Just curious...

I am not using Blackberry Messenger, so all of my PIN messages just go into my normal message list. When I eidt a profile, there is no listing for PIN messages. So what option do I use to set the alerts (in and out of holster) for incomming PIN messages?

BB Bold 9000 :: PIN Messages Alert Query
I have the main aggregate Message folder on my Home Screen, when I get what I think you would call PIN Messages I get the new message icon appearing on the home screen but no alert tone or vibrate heard.Now these messages are form blackberry.com regarding forgotten password for my BIS account as an example.

I have set the phone so that PIN Messages are treated as level 1 alerts and I have a tone/vibrate alert set for Level 1 Messages in my Normal profile but still no audible alert tone/vibrate/led flash is made and I can't figure out why this is happening.Also I noticed if I set the LED Flashing on some alerts the LED only flashes for around 10 Minutes and then stops, is this normal behaviour and if so I guess its battery saving?

BB Bold 9000 :: Message Alert Through Headhones Or Speaker?
I'm just about to order a Bold but the decision rests on the answer to this question (which hopefully some will answer for me).When headphones are plugged in, does the message alert / incoming call alert come from the internal speaker or the headphones (or both)? I always forget to unplug my headphones from my phone when I go to bed which was fine with my old phone because the alerts all came through the internal speaker. However, I bought an iPhone a few weeks back and missed two important work messages because its text alerts only come through the headphones if they are plugged in.So basically, if I leave headphone plugged in, will I still get an alert for new mail and incoming calls outloud.

BB Bold 9000 :: Application World Alert Wont Disappear
I can't get the blackberry app world alert to go away from the top of my screen? I already acknowledged the alert, I even upgraded the app it was informing me on, but now it won't disappear? Is there another reason for it? Am I missing something, and not looking hard enough on what it is? The alert is a number 1, and a circle with an arrow in the middle that is pointing down to the left corner, and a little red asterik, similar to when you have a new message/email.

BB Bold 9000 :: Messenger - No Audible Alert Or Vibration On Message
I just got my blackberry bold and having issues with the messenger. I am using v167, platform 217. I get no audible alert when somebody sends me a message or vibration. I checked to make sure i was available and my profile is set to normal. I also only get vibration for the messenger when i have my phone set to vibrate. Am i doing something wrong? Do i need to upgrade my software?

I was laying in bed half awake opening a link from an email and it could not open due to signal strength. I went to close it and it asked me if I wanted to save it. I clicked yes on accident and since then I have not been able to get the browser icon with a 1 next to it to go away from my home page.

BB Bold 9000 :: What Happened To Mail Alert Red Stars - How To Get Them Back
Maybe I'm just imagining that they used to be there, but I thought I had red stars on my mail boxes that had fresh mail. I monitor four or five different emails, so it's kind of a nuisance when there is a new mail notification the home screen, but I can't tell which email it is without opening each of them.

How do I get that back? My text and you mail icons have it, I gotta believe that the mail icons can do that too!

BB Bold 9000 :: How To Change Contacts's Sms Alert Tones
Came from the storm and im tyring to figure out how to change a contact's sms alert tone. i cannot for the life of me figure out how to set a special tone for my girlfriend so that whenever she sends me a text i know its her.ive tried the whole profile-exception thing and it DOES set the ringtone but when it comes to the sms tone it uses the regular alert. its pretty straight forward with the storm so am i missing something here?

BB Bold 9000 :: Get Fox News Alert App To Stop Sending News Alerts
So here's what's going on: I downloaded the "Fox News Alert" Application a few weeks ago and shortly after, I downloaded the "Fox News Bookmark" App. After a while I decided to uninstall both apps and download the Associated Press App instead. The "Fox News Bookmark" App uninstalled with no trouble whatsoever. However, after completely uninstalling the "Fox News Alerts" App from my BB, I am still receiving the Fox News Alerts on my phone. When I open up my AppWorld or sync to my desktop, my BB doesn't show the program as being installed. Even more interesting is that my AppWorld doesnt even show any record of the program ever being installed or uninstalled. So, if anyone has any ideas on how to get this fox news alert app to stop sending me news alerts to my phone I would appreciate it. Btw, I've tried opening up the alert and scrolling to the bottom of the page to look for an unsubscribe option, but there isn't one.

When I am in a call I won't know that there is another call coming in unless I happen to be looking at my Bolds' display. Is there some alert notification setting that has been turned off perhaps.

BB Bold 9650 :: Wrong Alert Tone For SMS Played - Song Tone For Email Alert Came
This is only the second time this has happened since I got the phone a few weeks back.I have all of my messages set to different specific ringtones. My SMS to one, my MMS to one, my email to one etc. So tonight I rcvd an email and instead of playing the tone it always plays that it is set for (one of the generic preloaded notifier tones)... it played my SMS tone (which is an actual song tone) to alert me to my email.

And NO I didnt recieve a new SMS at the same time. That folder is empty and the only red star alert was on my email envelope. Like I said this is very, very few and far between but why would this happen??I went over every one of my sound/alert settings and they are all the way they should be set for my liking.

Why can't RIM develop a Bold 9xxx with the body of the Bold 9000 with larger memory, Trackpad, better camera? They've done it with the Tour and Curve. Plus they've got all the parts available already, just need a little engineering to fit the trackpad and everything else. C'mon RIM. We know you can do it. I'm sure you'd sell millions of them.

I have to say that, after seeing pictures of the Bold 9700, I like the original Bold 9000 better. I admit that I am basing this strictly on pictures and not on physically comparing the two devices, but I don't like the look of the Onyx as much as I love the look of the Bold 9000. IPhone :: Cannot Change Sount Alert For New Email / How To Create Custom Vibration Alert
I know, at least I think I know, that you can't change the sound played for new incoming mail. If Apple ever gets around to allowing a different sound, I'd like the ability to have a different sound per mailbox. I have multiple mailboxes and I'd find it useful to know which one just got email. Additionally, it would be nice to be able to create custom vibrates for emails. I could have 2 vibrates mean mailbox1, 3 vibrates mean mailbox2, that sort of thing.
